Fine Art Portfolio: Prerequisites, Competition, Supplemental/Major Based (Grades 7th+)

Portfolio Fundamental immerses students in a creative and challenging environment where they learn to effectively use and enhance their art materials while applying strong craftsmanship. This course focuses on building foundational art skills essential for developing a strong portfolio.

Students will explore key concepts such as color theory and design principles while completing fundamental projects in areas like self-portraiture, landscapes, surrealism, and portrait studies.

Portfolio Level Competition (Fine Art) provides students with the opportunity to learn the steps, requirements, and processes for applying to national and international art competitions. Students will develop unique concepts and create original artworks based on prompts and themes from various organizations.

This course focuses on helping students manage their time effectively, complete projects within deadlines, and properly format their submissions. Competitions covered may include YoungArts, NASA, and Scholastic Art & Writing.
