Studio Policies

Studio Policies 2024-2025

CLASSROOM POLICY:

I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that parents, relatives, and siblings are not permitted with students during classes inside the classroom, unless siblings are taking the same class with them, or invited by a teacher.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that my child (ren) must arrive on time, and have consistent attendance because it will disrupt their learning progress in the classroom and disrupt their class package.

EARLY DROP OFF POLICY:

I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if I drop off my child (ren) more than 30 minutes early at the Artist Lab, the Artist Lab will charge me a $15 Early Drop Off Penalty for every 30 minute period.

LATE PICK UP POLICY:

I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if I pick up my child (ren) more than 30 minutes late at the Artist Lab, the Artist Lab will charge me a $15 Late Pick Up Penalty for every 30 minute period.

ABSENT POLICY:

I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if my child (ren) needs to be absent for a class for any reason, I must notify The Artist Lab at least 24 hours in advance, by calling, leaving a voice message, text message, or by WeChat. Class may or may not be deducted as usual depending on the chosen class package.


CLASS CHANGES & POSTPONEMENTS

  • Switching Different Class Types: Switching different types of classes might be available, space permitting, with a $35 Processing fee, at least 48 hours before rescheduled class start date.

  • Switching Class Time for the Same Type of Class: Switching class time for the same type of class might be available, space permitting, with no Processing fee, at least 48 hours before rescheduled class start date.

  • Pausing a Class Package: To pause a package for a certain amount of time due to any reason, a $35 Processing Fee is required. When returning, there will not be a fee to start the package.

MANAGEMENT CANCELLATION POLICY:

I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if a class session is canceled by the Artist Lab, there will either be rescheduling, exchange, or refund issued.


VALIDITY

All presale class packages purchased for the 2024-2025 school year will be valid only for the 2024-2025 school year. Any excess classes may be used during Summer 2025. Any excess classes past this date will become void/expired, with no exceptions.


MAKE-UP PASS POLICY:

  • 1 Month Package/4 classes: I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if I purchase the 1 month package, there will be no make-up class issued no matter the circumstances. Any absences will count as No Show, which will result in deducting classes from the 1 month class package.

  • 3 Month Package/ 12 classes: I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if I purchase the 3 month package, there will be only 1 makeup class issued for my 1 absences. This 1 makeup class will only qualify if I give the Artist Lab at least 24 hours advance notice that my child(ren) will be absent from class. If I fail to give the Artist Lab a 24 hour advance notice, there will be no make-up class issued and instead any absences will count as No Show, which will result in deducting classes from the 3 month class package. The makeup classes are only valid within the duration of your package, not valid after your package ends.

  • 9 Month Package/ 36 classes: I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if I purchase the 9 month package, there will be only 3 makeup classes issued for my 3 absences. These 3 makeup classes will only qualify if I give the Artist Lab at least 24 hours advance notice that my child(ren) will be absent from class. If I fail to give the Artist Lab a 24 hour advance notice, there will be no make-up class issued and instead any absences will count as No Show, which will result in deducting classes from the 9 month class package. The makeup classes are only valid within the duration of your package, not after your package ends.


REGISTRATION FEE POLICY:

  • The registration fee pertains to students registering for classes at The Artist Lab. It encompasses service fees associated with all class registrations, inclusive of a singular, one-time gift(s).

  • The registration fee does not apply to students who have joined our studio prior and are currently active as of 1/1/2024. Registration fee may apply in certain circumstances, see below.

  • The registration fee remains valid exclusively for presently enrolled and actively participating students. In the event that a student or family refrains from attending classes and remains inactive for a duration exceeding 3 months from the last class visit, re-registration with a new registration fee is mandatory. This policy only applies to the school year between Fall-Spring semester, the Summer season is excluded from this policy.

  • For students under a one year Portfolio Plan, registration fees are only valid for the year of service. Renewal is required for each year of service.

  • The registration fee is categorically non-refundable, and no exceptions will be entertained.


DROP IN POLICY:

  • The Drop In Policy pertains to families who purchase this add-on to class packages that are 3 months or 9 months long to allow for flexibility within their child (ren’s) schedule.

  • The Drop In Policy also applies to classes that occur in the summer, not summer camp.

  • I understand that Drop In Packages are by appointment only based on my child(ren’s) availability. Appointments must be made with The Artist Lab’s Front Desk.

  • If your child (ren) is unable to attend your scheduled class and time, you must provide 24 hour notice by contacting The Artist Lab’s Front Desk. Providing advanced notice will remove your child (ren) from the roster for that day with no deduction to pass.

    • If you provide 24 hour notice and would like to take the class another time, you will be provided class options from the same teacher that occur the same time but on a different day as long as there is space available in the roster.

    • Failure to provide 24 hour notice will result in the child (ren) counting as No Show, which will result in the deducting classes from your chosen class package.

  • 3 Month Package/ 12 classes:

    • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if I purchase a 3 month package, I will be charged an additional 8-10% of my chosen class package and will need to complete the 3 month package within 6 months of the purchase date.

  • 9 Month Package/ 36 classes:

    • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that if I purchase a 9 month drop in package, I will be charged an additional 8-10% of my chosen class package and will need to complete the 9 month package within 12 months of the purchase date.


PORTFOLIO ONE YEAR PLAN

  • Validity: All Portfolio Plans are one year long:

    • School Year: 9 Months, 36 weeks

    • Summer: 3 Months, 10-12 weeks

  • Conditions: The Artist Lab is not responsible for the quality of the student’s portfolio. The student’s effort, under the guidance of The Artist Lab instructor, will determine the portfolio’s outcome.

  • Registration Fee: As of 1/1/2024, registration fees are service fees subjected to all active students. The registration fee for Portfolio Plan Students is only valid for the year of service agreed upon. Renewal is required for each year of service.

  • Make Up Passes: No make up passes will be provided, no matter the circumstances.

Return & Refunds: All Portfolio One Year Plans are FINAL SALE and cannot be refunded or exchanged, with no exceptions.


RETURN & REFUND POLICY:
  • I understand all returns and refunds are up to the discretion of The Artist Lab

  • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian All Trial Class purchases are final sale and cannot be refunded or exchanged with no exceptions.

  • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian All Presale, Discount, and Early Enrollment classes and camp purchases are final sale and cannot be refunded or exchanged, with no exceptions.

  • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian All Regular-priced classes and Camp purchases can be returned for a partial refund of class tuition minus the $35 transaction fee within 14 days of purchase.

    • Within 3 days of purchase: 80% of tuition minus a $35 transaction fee

    • Within 3-14 days of purchase: 20% of tuition minus a $35 transaction fee

    • After 14 days: No refunds or exchanges, with no exceptions

  • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian All Classes and Camps are final sale and cannot be refunded or exchanged, with no exceptions after the first class is in use. All unused classes and hours remaining in the class package are not exchangeable for other classes, camps, or other special events. No price adjustment will be issued for any packages

CLASS BEHAVIOR POLICY:

  • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that my child (ren) is expected to listen to all staff from The Artist Lab. If my child(ren) is not listening, following directions, or being respectful, they will receive a verbal warning, and if the behavior continues, I, the parent and/or guardian will be called to take their child (ren) home early for the day. If the child (ren) has stayed longer than the 15 minute mark, that day of attendance will count as a class. I understand that if my child (ren) continues to display patterns of unacceptable behavior, he/she may be asked to leave the class permanently and I am not entitled to any refunds, credits, prorated fees or discounts.



NO NUT POLICY

  • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian the Artist Lab does not allow nuts or nut related products inside the school premises. I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian, I will not pack any nuts or nut related products with my child (ren). I understand if my child (ren) brings nuts or nut related products inside the school premises, I, as his guardian will be held liable for his/her actions.



ALLERGY POLICY

  • I understand as my child(ren’s) guardian, I must immediately notify the Artist Lab or their employees or any involved parties of any severe allergies my child (ren) may have that result in severe medical consequences. I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian, the Artist Lab and or their employees or any involved parties are not responsible or liable for administering medical aid to my children.



SICK CHILD POLICY

  • I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian that under no circumstances, I bring my sick child (ren) to The Artist Lab. If my child (ren) shows any signs of illness (see Symptoms Child Removal Policy), I will not bring them to the Artist Lab. If they display any of these symptoms during class time, the child (ren) is unable to participate in the normal routine of the class and the Artist Lab will call the guardians to take the child (ren) home. I understand sick children can expose all other students & staff members who they come in contact with, who will in turn expose other students & members to illness. Because this is disruptive to other families, I understand my cooperation on this issue is extremely important. In the event a child (ren) becomes ill and needs to be picked up, the parent(s) will be called and are expected to come pick the child up within 30 minutes. If the parent(s) cannot be reached, or have not arrived within 30 minutes, the emergency contact guardian will be called and asked to come pick the child up. In the event a child complains about not feeling well during class, the parent or emergency contact guardian will be contacted to take the child home.



SYMPTOM CHILD REMOVAL POLICY:

I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian, the symptoms below qualify for the Artist Lab or their employees or any involved parties to remove my child (ren) from the classroom which will result in me taking my children home early. I understand as my child (ren’s) guardian, if my child (ren) displays any of these symptoms, I will not bring them to the Artist Lab.

  • Fever, defined as having a temperature of 100°F or higher taken on the forehead (a child needs to be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school, that means the child is fever free without the aid of Tylenol®, or any other fever reducing substance.)

  • Fever AND sore throat, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, earache, irritability, or confusion.

  • Frequent scratching of the body or scalp, lice, rash, or any other spots that resemble childhood diseases, including ringworm.

  • Is irritable, continuously crying, or requires more attention than we can provide without hurting the health, safety or well-being of the other children in our care.

NOTICES AND MESSAGES:

I agree that The Artist Lab will provide notices and messages to me in the following ways: (1) within the Service, or (2) sent to the contact information you provided us (e.g. telephone, email, SMS, text message, WeChat or post). I agree to keep my contact information up to date.

I may, at any time, update and amend my preferred method(s) of communication, opt out of receiving communications from TAL, or change your contact details by contacting us at contact.theartistlab@gmail.com.

Guardian Liability Waiver

GENERAL

  • ASSUMPTION OF RISKS & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ALL RISKS & PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT I: I understand that all activities of my minor(s), the Participant(s), are completely voluntary. I, the legal (court appointed) guardian or custodian, understand that the classroom supplies, equipment, and all activities at The Artist Lab have inherent risks, and that participation in the activities and use of play and crafting equipment may result in injury or serious injury, including but not limited to, cuts, wounds and bodily injuries, illness, emotional distress, property damage, permanent disability, or death.

  • ASSUMPTION OF RISKS & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ALL RISK & PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT II: I, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the below-listed minors, as their parent, legal (court appointed) guardian or custodian, knowingly, voluntarily, and freely accept and assume any and all risks, both known and unknown, of injuries or other loss or damage we may suffer while on The Artist Lab premises, however caused, even if caused in whole or in part by the action, omission or negligence of The Artist Lab, its principals, members, officers, owners, shareholders, employees, franchisor, other Artist Lab independently owned locations, independent contractors, equipment manufacturers or repair persons, sponsors, agents, or other patrons (collectively referred to as “released parties”).


  • WAIVER OF ALL CLAIMS I: I, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the below-listed minors, expressly release and voluntarily waive any and all claims, suits or demands for personal injury, disability, death, illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, expense, property damage or other loss against the released parties, to the fullest extent permitted by law, this waiver is intended to be a complete release of the released parties for any and all negligent acts or omissions, and all responsibility for bodily injuries, death, illness, or property damage sustained by me or any of the below-listed minors on The Artist Lab’s premises, whether arising out of or in connection with my or their participation in activities, use of play and crafting equipment, or not.


  • WAIVER OF ALL CLAIMS II:I further agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the released parties, and each of them, against any and all claims, lawsuits or demands resulting from any loss, injury, illness, damage, or death, as well as property damage, including attorney fees and costs, arising out of or in connection with my and/or below-listed minors' participation in the activities described herein, and/or presence on premises.


  • POLICY PARTICIPATION: I, for myself, and as parent, legal (court-appointed) guardian or authorized custodian of the minors, willingly agree to read, obey, and comply with all posted, spoken and/or customary safety rule signs and conditions for attendance at The Artist Lab, participation in all activities, and use of classroom supplies & equipment, and understand that the failure to do so may result in serious injury or death. I represent that I and all minors are physically fit, otherwise healthy and able to safely participate in all activities and use all of the play and crafting equipment.


  • MEDICAL WAIVER: I, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the below-listed minors or participants as their parent, legal (court appointed) guardian or custodian, declare we are in good physical condition. However, in case of illness or accident, The Artist Lab has the authority to secure necessary medical attention. I will not hold The Artist Lab or their employees or any involved parties viable for medical aid rendered and will reimburse the Artist Lab or their employees or any involved parties for medical and other expenses incurred in his/her case.


COVID-19

  • ASSUMPTION AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE RISKS RELATING TO CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 OR ANY RELATED VARIANTS I: The novel coronavirus, COVID-19 and it’s related variants, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 and it’s related variants is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people. The Artist Lab has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and it’s related variants. However, The Artist Lab cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19 and it’s related variants. Further, attending The Artist Lab could increase your risk and your child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19 and it’s related variants.

  • ASSUMPTION AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE RISKS RELATING TO CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 OR ANY RELATED VARIANTS II: I, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the below-listed minors, as their parent, legal (court appointed) guardian or custodian, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and it’s related variants and voluntarily assume the risk of exposure or infection by COVID-19 and it’s related variants by attending The Artist Lab and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 and it’s related variants at The Artist Lab may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, Artist Lab employees, volunteers, and activity participants and their families.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO RELEASE


If you DO NOT consent to have your minor to be photographed or videographed, please contact us and we will make a note on your student’s profile. Please still read and sign the “Guardian Liability Waiver.”

  • PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO RELEASE I: I hereby grant The Artist Lab the irrevocable right and permission to use photographs and/or video recordings of my minor on The Artist Lab’s and other websites, and in publications, promotional flyers, educational materials, derivative works, social media, or for any other similar purpose, without compensation to me.

  • PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO RELEASE II: I understand and agree that such photographs and/or video recordings of my minor may be placed on the Internet. I also understand and agree that my minor may be identified by first name only in printed, Internet or broadcast information that might accompany the photographs and/or video recordings of my minor. I waive the right to approve the final product. I agree that all such portraits, pictures, photographs, video and audio recordings, and any reproductions thereof, and all plates, negatives, recording tape and digital files are and shall remain the property of The Artist Lab.

  • PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO RELEASE III: I hereby release, acquit and forever discharge The Artist Lab, contractors and employees of the above-named entities from any and all claims, demands, rights, promises, damages and liabilities arising out of or in connection with the use or distribution of said photographs and/or video recordings, including but not limited to any claims for invasion of privacy, appropriation of likeness or defamation.


Portfolio Program Policies

Welcome to The Artist Lab's Art Portfolio Program. Before you join our program, please take a moment to read and understand the following terms and conditions regarding the usage of artwork created in our studio space or with our instructors.


1. Ownership and Usage Rights:

When you participate in The Artist Lab's Art Portfolio Program and submit portfolio pieces created within our studio space or under the guidance of our instructors, you acknowledge and agree to the following:


2. Submission for Applications:

a. The Artist Lab is entitled to use the portfolio pieces submitted for applications on social media, our website, and other public-facing platforms in connection with promoting and showcasing the quality of work produced within our program.


3. Non-Submission Usage:

a. If you choose not to submit the portfolio pieces for applications, The Artist Lab reserves the right to use the created images for marketing and promotional purposes only.


4. Attribution and Credits:

a. The Artist Lab will make reasonable efforts to provide appropriate credit to the artists whenever the artwork is used for promotional or marketing purposes.


5. Confidentiality:

a. The Artist Lab respects the confidentiality and privacy of your artwork and will not disclose any sensitive or private information related to the creation process without your express consent.


6. Non-Exclusive Rights:

a. The Artist Lab's usage rights do not preclude you from retaining your ownership rights to the artwork, and you may use the artwork for your own purposes, including selling, displaying, or submitting it to other programs or institutions.


7. Withdrawal of Consent:

a. You may request to withdraw consent for the usage of your artwork by The Artist Lab for marketing purposes at any time. Such requests should be made in writing to [contact email], and we will promptly address your request.


8. Agreement Acceptance:

a. By participating in The Artist Lab's Art Portfolio Program, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined above. You understand that your submission of portfolio pieces constitutes acceptance of these terms.
